Why Inspect Toilets Before Purchasing?

Toilets are standardized ceramic fixtures that are difficult to return or exchange once installed; rectifying issues after a large batch has been delivered and mounted entails extremely high costs. Pre-procurement inspection serves to eliminate risks-such as cracks, dimensional errors, flushing defects, or discrepancies between the delivered goods and specifications-before the order is placed or the bulk shipment is dispatched.
Toilet Inspection Standards
I. Basic Information Verification
Model, style, flushing method (siphon/wash-down), rough-in distance, and brand markings must match the purchase order.
Distinguish between one-piece and two-piece toilets; ensure the accessory list is complete (flush mechanism, seat cover, sealing ring, screws).
II. Dimensional Inspection
Rough-in distance: Distance from the wall to the center of the waste outlet; tolerance ≤ ±3mm.
Overall length, width, height, water tank height, and mounting hole positions must match drawings/samples.
Waste outlet outer diameter and base flatness; base warpage must not exceed 2mm (to prevent leakage after installation).
III. Ceramic Appearance Quality (Critical)
Cracks: No through-cracks allowed anywhere (body, tank, or waste pipe); hairline cracks result in immediate rejection.
Glaze finish
Visible surfaces: Free from pinholes, bubbles, glaze shrinkage, glaze peeling, obvious scratches, stains, or lumps/bumps.
Non-visible base surfaces: Minor blemishes allowed, provided they do not penetrate the ceramic body.
Color consistency: No obvious color difference within the same batch; uniform color between tank and bowl.
Deformation, chips, and nicks: No chipped edges or lost glaze; seat contact surface must be flat.
Waste pipe interior: Glaze coating must be intact (unglazed pipes easily accumulate waste and cause blockages).
IV. Flushing Performance & Water Seal Metrics (Core Functions)
Refer to National Standard GB/T 6952 "Sanitary Ceramics."
Water seal depth
Siphon toilets: Water seal depth ≥ 50mm.
Insufficient seal → odor backflow; excessive seal → splashing during flush.
Flushing function test
Smooth water flow for both full and partial flushes; no flow interruption or abnormal splashing.
Waste discharge test: Standard test media must be cleared in a single flush without blockage or backflow.
Anti-siphon capability: No backflow into the water supply line during water supply interruption.
Water consumption: Water-saving models must meet agreed specifications (Grade 1 water efficiency ≤ 4.8L). (Full flush)
V. Cistern Components (Inlet Valve, Flush Valve)
Inlet Valve: Fills steadily; stops automatically upon reaching the water level; no continuous slow leakage
Water Level: Maintains a safety clearance of ≥20mm below the overflow outlet to prevent overflow
Flush Valve Seal: No continuous seepage into the toilet bowl after closing
Button/Lever: Smooth rebound without sticking; clear distinction between dual-flush options (full/partial flush)
Connection Seal: Water flow test confirms no seepage or dripping at any connection point
VI. Seat & Lid Inspection
Soft-close Lid: Lowers slowly without slamming or loud impact noise
Smooth opening and closing; hinges are secure with no looseness or significant wobbling
Surface free of cracks or burrs; material free of pungent odors
Lid is centered and aligned correctly when closed
VII. Leakage Test (Mandatory)
Fill cistern with water and let stand for 15–30 minutes
No seepage, condensation, or leakage at cistern welds, connections, or the base of the ceramic body
No signs of seepage at the waste outlet or the base contact surface
VIII. Packaging Inspection (Applicable for pre-shipment inspection)
EPE foam corner protectors and carton strength are sufficient to prevent shipping damage
Model markings clearly visible on inner and outer packaging; accessories individually bagged
Moisture protection measures in place to prevent ceramic from dampness or glaze abrasion
