Fan Inspection

Fan Inspection involves third-party inspectors visiting the manufacturing facility to conduct pre-shipment inspections on finished fans—such as pedestal, desk, air circulator, and ceiling fans—based on purchase orders, approved samples, product specifications, and client-specified AQL sampling standards. The process entails verifying product models, appearance and assembly, functional performance (power-on testing), electrical safety, nameplate markings, and packaging conditions. Inspectors document any quality defects and make an overall assessment of whether the goods meet the required standards, ultimately issuing an impartial third-party inspection report to serve as a reference for overseas buyers in deciding whether to proceed with shipment.

The Importance of Fan Inspection

Fan Inspection4

As electrical household appliances, fans require pre-shipment inspections to identify potential quality and safety hazards-such as structural instability, abnormal operating noises, functional malfunctions, inadequate safety guards, or physical damage-before the goods are exported. Such inspections help avoid the high costs associated with returns, exchanges, tariffs, and port demurrage for non-compliant products, and prevent issues like customs detention or end-user claims at the destination port due to safety concerns. Furthermore, inspections ensure that manufacturers do not make unauthorized changes to product specifications, guaranteeing that the bulk shipment matches the approved sample; third-party inspection reports also serve as objective, valid evidence for resolving quality disputes between buyers and sellers.

Key inspection items

1. Document and Accessory Verification
- Verify that the PO, product model, color, voltage specifications, plug type, and functional configuration match the confirmed sample;
- Count the sample quantity and distinguish between different models and batches;
- Check accessories: remote control, batteries, screw kits, user manual, and warranty card;
- Inspect product labels, nameplate parameters, warning statements, and certification marks (e.g., CE/UL) to ensure correct printing and secure attachment.

2. Appearance and Assembly Inspection
- Housing, fan blades, and grille: Free from scratches, cracks, deformation, color discrepancies, sink marks, burrs, or stains;
- Assembly tightness: Base, stand, motor head, and front/rear grilles are securely assembled with no obvious looseness;
- Grille integrity: No deformation; gaps must not be excessive (to prevent fingers from reaching the blades-critical safety point);
- Power cord: No damaged insulation or twisting; plug shows no deformation;
- Tilt adjustment mechanism: Locks securely at the adjusted angle without slipping.

3. Functional Testing (Core Requirements)
- Wind speed settings: Responsive switching between speeds, distinct airflow differences, and no setting failures;
- Oscillation function: Smooth movement, no stalling or knocking noises, and oscillation angle meets specifications;
- Timer, sleep mode, and natural wind modes (if applicable): Programs run accurately with correct start/stop timing;
- Remote control: Responsive buttons, adequate signal range, and no missing segments on the display;
- Overall operation: No screeching friction or abnormal noise; no significant wobbling during blade rotation.

4. Critical Safety Checks (High Priority for Overseas Customers)
- Stability test: Fan must not tip over when placed on an inclined surface;
- Wiring layout: Compliant routing with no pinched wires;
- Grille protection: Meets standards to prevent contact with rotating blades;
- Rechargeable fans: Normal charging, correct indicator light operation, and no abnormal heating.

5. Packaging Inspection (FRI – Final Pre-shipment Inspection)
- Printing on color boxes and outer cartons is correct; cartons are free from damage or moisture;
- Internal foam or paper inserts provide secure positioning to prevent casing scratches or fan blade deformation caused by transport vibration;
- Barcodes are clear and scannable; packing method complies with customer requirements.

6. Defect Classification and Evidence Collection
- Photograph all defects on-site; classify them as Critical, Major, or Minor; determine the disposition (Pass, Recommend Rework, or Reject) based on the agreed AQL standards.
